Don't let the plain village label fool you — this draws on the oldest vines Lafarge-Vial owns, with plantings going back to 1950 alongside blocks from 1969 and the 1970s. It comes from two south- and southeast-facing granite lieux-dits, Bel Air and Sarcillon; Bel Air mattered enough to the family that they bottled it on its own in their debut 2014 release before folding it into this blend. Frédéric Lafarge, of Volnay's Domaine Michel Lafarge, and Chantal Vial farm all 1.75 hectares certified organic and Demeter biodynamic, then vinify the Burgundian way: about 15% whole clusters, ambient yeast fermentation in concrete for a little over a week, gentle extraction, and a year in used 228- and 350-liter barrels. The Fleurie plots came in on September 10 after a cool, wet 2024 that ran late and demanded constant work in the vineyard, and the wine is all florals and lift. This is the most classically perfumed bottle in the range and the easiest to drink tonight.
