What is this wine?

Larmandier-Bernier is one of Champagne’s benchmark grower-producers, farming biodynamically in the Côte des Blancs. Longitude is a Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut sourced from a line of 1er Cru Chardonnay vineyards running south of Vertus—Avize, Cramant, Oger, and Vertus itself—hence the name “Longitude.” Fermentation is with native yeasts, aging is long on the lees, and dosage is kept very low to emphasize terroir transparency.

Why get this wine?

If you’re looking for a pure, mineral-driven Chardonnay Champagne, this is a gold standard. It offers the finesse of Côte des Blancs fruit, serious grower credibility, and biodynamic pedigree—all at a fraction of the price of the grandes marques. “Longitude” is a reference bottling for Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs: elegant, precise, and consistently among the best values in Champagne.

What does this wine taste like?

Lively citrus and green apple with chalky minerality, white flowers, and a touch of brioche. Fine mousse, taut acidity, and a long, saline finish give it both energy and elegance.

When should you drink this wine?

Ideal as an aperitif or paired with oysters, sushi, or delicate seafood. It’s drinking beautifully now but will develop more complexity with 3–6 years of bottle age. Serve well chilled.

"The NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Longitude 1er Cru is a powerful, ample wine. The Longitude builds beautifully in the glass, creamy and textured, with tons of resonance. Pear, white pepper, dried flowers, mint and chalk are all delineated in a Champagne that blends power and tension. This is all class. Dosage is 3 grams per liter. Disgorged: February, 2023." —Antonio Galloni

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
