From the Wintricher Ohligsberg — one of the very greatest sites on the Mosel — Max Kilburg crafts a Spätlese that is both deep and dancing. Max runs the family estate Weingut Geierslay in Wintrich, trained with Julian Haart, and recently acquired an older-vine parcel in Ohligsberg, a vineyard nearly every Mosel winemaker names among the top of the region. Compared to the brighter Goldtröpfchen, Ohligsberg leans darker and more powerful: a south-facing amphitheatre of blue slate that delivers riper fruit without losing the spine. This 2024 Spätlese is gently sweet and gloriously low in alcohol, ringing with stone-fruit depth and the firmness that makes Ohligsberg a benchmark. A serious off-dry Riesling that drinks beautifully now and will cellar for two decades.

Perfect Pairings

Pairs naturally with roast pork, duck à l'orange, Thai or Vietnamese curries, crab cakes, pâté en croûte, or a wedge of Roquefort. The acid-sweet balance is built to handle heat, salt and richness in equal measure.

Tasting Profile

Off-dry and powerful for the format. Yellow peach, mirabelle plum, candied ginger and beeswax fold around a smoky-slate core. Sweetness is buoyed by firm Mosel acidity; the finish is long, salty and full of stony grip.
