Châteauneuf-du-Pape from a family that has been making wine here since 1775, working vines that are mostly between 60 and 110 years old. Domaine de Monpertuis, run by Paul Jeune, takes its name from the small Mont Pertuis area where its parcels sit, and the estate's traditional, Grenache-led wines are built for the long haul. This is the classic cuvee, anchored by Grenache with Mourvedre and Cinsault. The 2007 was a celebrated, powerful Southern Rhone vintage, and this bottle is now a mature back-vintage from a private cellar, drinking in its generous, evolved sweet spot. Old-vine Châteauneuf with real pedigree.
