Monte Dall'Ora's Saseti showcases the fresh, energetic side of Valpolicella that's redefining this tradition-bound region. Husband-and-wife team Carlo Venturini and Alessandra Zantedeschi farm biodynamically on limestone soils, creating wines with bright minerality and Alpine-like freshness.

This blend of 50% Corvina, 20% Corvinone, 20% Rondinella, and 10% Molinara comes from 25-65 year old vines. Fermented naturally in tank with brief maceration, it's aged entirely in concrete to preserve its crunchy red berry character and mountain herb notes.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 90
"Violet flowers and hints of wet stone come together with wild strawberries and red licorice as the 2023 Valpolicella Classico Saseti blossoms in the glass. This is lifted and pure, impressing with its vividly ripe wild berry fruits as citrus tones enliven the close. It tapers off cleanly with medium length, leaving a saline tinge that calls the taster back to the glass for more. This versatile Valpolicella could pair with nearly anything at the dinner table." -Eric Guido

What importer Bowler Wine has to say about this wine...

50% Corvina/20% Corvinone/ 20% Rondinella/10% Molinara & Oseleta. Saseti is the starting point of the Valpolicella line-up, from certified-biodynamic estate vines ranging from 25-65 years old. The vineyard is a south-facing hillside of ancient terraces that have been slowly restored by the Venturini family over time (segments of it are still consist of old stone walls overgrown completely with trees, wild vines and other plant life). The vines are cultivated in pergola rather than in guyot, all the better to see and manage the plants as well as to protect the bunches from the sun and to keep them far from the moisture of the ground. The soils are crumbly limestone over limestone mother rock: in fact this wine is named "Saseti" named for the pebbles or "little stones" found in the soil.
