Hidden Treasures is a partnership series between Moric, the top estate in Austria's Burgenland, and the best under-the-radar Pannonian producers. It showcases the cross-border similarities and connections while also highlighting the indigenous grapes and styles of these lesser-known regions. This Balaton gem is made with Philip Oser of Villa Tolnay from a blend of Rajnai Rizling (what we call Riesling) and Furmint. It perfectly captures the raciness of thse two varietals, amped up by the freshness imbued from the wind-swept hills of Csobánc and the minerality of the ancient limestone and basalt soils. Both Moric and Villa Tolnay are known for wines of exceptional elegance and this does not disappoint.

"From volcanic (basalt) soils, the 2021 Balaton Riesling / Furmint is pure, fresh and precise on the intense and elegant nose that reveals ripe fruit intertwined with saline, crystalline and stony aromas. Intense and juicy on the palate, with floral and fruity flavors and a round and charming texture, this is a linear and elegant blend with ripe acidity yet a structuring minerality and crunchy phenol grip.
