His Barbaresco Roncagliette comes from one of the region’s most prized crus, a vineyard that also houses Gaja’s legendary Sori Tildin. Olek Bondonio used to be a professional snowboarder. Now he's one of the most sought-after names in Barbaresco, farming the 200-year-old family estate Cascina La Berchialla with nearly seven hectares across some of Piedmont's most esteemed sites. His great-great-grandfather helped found the Barbaresco Co-op. In the cellar, Olek practices natural fermentation in concrete vats, extended skin macerations, aging in Slavonian oak, minimal sulfur. He's honoring history while making uncompromising, alive wines.
