What is this wine?
Radikon is a pioneering family estate in Oslavia, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, on the Slovenian border, renowned for redefining the possibilities of skin-contact white wines. Founded by the late Stanko Radikon and now run by his son Saša, the domaine farms organically and vinifies without additives. Oslavje is a signature orange wine blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Grigio, fermented on the skins for several months and aged in large oak casks before release. The 500ml bottling is part of Radikon’s “younger drinking” line, made with a slightly shorter maceration and aging than their larger-format bottlings.

Why get this wine?
Radikon is a true icon of natural winemaking, and Oslavje is one of his most emblematic cuvées. It’s a benchmark for skin-contact whites: complex, structured, and deeply expressive of Friuli’s unique terroir. The smaller-format bottling offers a more approachable version while retaining all the depth and originality that make Radikon wines cult favorites.

What does this wine taste like?
Textured and savory, with dried apricot, orange peel, and stone fruit layered over spice, tea-like tannins, and saline minerality. Medium-bodied, with a long, slightly grippy finish.

When should you drink this wine?
Wonderful now with aged cheeses, charcuterie, grilled fish, or Middle Eastern cuisine, but it will evolve well over 5–7 years. Best served slightly chilled, in a wide glass, to let the aromatics open.

What importer Bowler Wine has to say about this wine...

60% Chardonnay/40% Sauvignon Blanc. All of Radikon's whites are made in the same way: the organically farmed, stunningly low-yield, hand-harvested fruit is destemmed and gently crushed with a pneumatic press. The grapes are placed in old Slavonian oak vats and co-fermented with native yeasts. Maceration with the skins lasts about 3 months—however long it takes to reach total dryness--with no temperature control and no sulfur. The wine is racked and aged on its lees in huge Slavonian oak casks (25-35-hectoliter) for 3-4 years, racked twice a year. The wine is then bottled without sulfur and without filtration. The bottles are aged for several years before release. Oslavje is the Radikons' home village in Friui.
