The Lindes de Remelluri series is all about place—and “Labastida” shows just how graceful Rioja can be when it’s grown and made with a light touch. This bottling comes from old-vine parcels surrounding the historic Remelluri estate, high in the foothills of the Sierra de Toloño, and farmed by growers who’ve worked the land for generations.
The 2019 vintage is a beauty—red plum, cherry skin, thyme, and dusty spice, all carried on a frame of fine tannins and cool, mountain freshness. It’s fermented with native yeasts, aged in neutral oak and concrete, and bottled without makeup—a Rioja that whispers instead of shouts.
Unlike the brawnier reserva styles, Viñedos de Labastida leans toward finesse and transparency, highlighting the limestone soils and high-altitude tension of the site. It’s classical in shape, but modern in feel—a wine for Burgundy lovers who want something Iberian, or Rioja fans craving something subtler.
