Roagna's traditional Barolo from the Le Coste vineyard in Monforte d'Alba, made by one of Piedmont's most uncompromising growers and now drinking at maturity. Roagna farms old vines naturally and ages the wine for years in large neutral casks before release, a slow and patient approach that captures site over cellar with unusual transparency. This is a back-vintage bottle from a private collection, showing the dried-rose, tar and earthy complexity that mature Roagna Nebbiolo is prized for. A touch younger than some of the estate's other back-vintages here, it should still carry a bit more structure alongside its evolved notes. Decant well ahead and let it breathe.

More about Roagna

Luca Roagna is the fifth generation in a family that's been making wine in Barbaresco since the 1850s. His Dolcetto comes from vines over 45 years old, fermented with real patience and aged in neutral oak. This is the kind of wine that makes you wonder why everyone doesn't make Dolcetto this seriously.
