Robert Chevillon is the most respected traditional producer in Nuits-Saint-Georges, with holdings across nearly every great 1er Cru in the village. The Vieilles Vignes bottling sits at the entry of their range, but the old-vine fruit and the same patient cellar work the family brings to their top crus make it punch far above its village pedigree. 2012 was a small, concentrated vintage in Burgundy, with low yields producing wines of unusual depth. Thirteen years on, this NSG is in a generous mid-maturity window: the structured Chevillon backbone is softening, the dark fruit is folding into savory tones, and the wine is showing the breadth and grip you would expect from a much higher classification.

Domaine Robert Chevillon is basically the gold standard for Nuits-Saint-Georges. The estate has belonged to the Chevillon family for generations, and today brothers Denis and Bertrand (fifth generation) make wines from eight Premier Cru terroirs plus meticulous village cuvées. Robert Parker's critic William Kelley called them 'one of my favorite addresses in all of Burgundy.' These are characterful, age-worthy, utterly Burgundian. No compromise.
