Robert Moncuit, Champagne Grand Cru Extra Brut Les Grands Blancs, NV

$74.99
Use code 10OFF to get 10% off 12+ bottles

Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of Champagne's greatest chalk villages, without the Grand Cru price tag. Robert Moncuit is a grower estate, farming its own prized Cote des Blancs parcels and vinifying all Chardonnay in 350-liter oak barrels with full malolactic so nothing gets between you and the pure Mesnil chalk. The Extra Brut dosage is deliberately low, which lets that saline, mineral tension take center stage rather than hiding behind sugar. Built from a base vintage rounded out with reserve wine, it delivers the richer, more textured side of Le Mesnil while staying taut and precise. Everything you love about grand Blanc de Blancs, at a fraction of the usual ask.

Antonio Galloni

91 points

"The NV Brut Blanc de Blancs is a gorgeous wine in its peer group. Brisk, dry and pulsing with the energy that makes Chardonnay from Mesnil and Oger so distinctive, the NV Blanc de Blancs is a winner. This is an absolutely delicious bottle of NV Champagne. This release is a blend of 2014 and 2013. Disgorged: February, 2018."

""The latest release of Moncuit's NV Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru is a blend of the 2013 and 2014 vintages, disgorged in June 2018 with three grams per liter dosage. Offering up a complex bouquet of citrus oil, pomelo, oyster shell and freshly baked bread, it's medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural and precise, with an ample and expressive core of fruit girdled in lively acids, concluding with a long and sapid finish. This is a decidedly classy Blanc de Blancs that comes warmly recommended."" —William Kelley

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
