A small slice of Aloxe-Corton from one of the Cote de Beaune's most quietly respected addresses, Domaine Simon Bize in Savigny-les-Beaune, founded in 1880. Le Suchot, whose name roughly means "the little mound," is a one-hectare parcel of clay and pebbles that faces the great hill of Corton head-on. The Bize style favors freshness and finesse over weight, farming organically (uncertified) and using little new oak so the site speaks clearly. The 2020 is generous and warm by vintage but holds the domaine's signature lift, and it will reward several more years in the cellar.
