Chad Singley and Megan Lyslo are two Americans who moved to the Mosel, went to work with Ulli Stein, and started making a tiny quantity of their own Riesling on the side. Their holdings amount to just over a hectare, scattered in parcels between Zell and Bremm, including some of the most vertiginous slate terraces in Europe. They work with massale selections and an old-school viticulture that owes very little to 20th-century shortcuts, and they are chasing the delicacy and lightness that made the Moselle famous in the first place. Kleine Pause means 'little break', which is roughly the right posture for a wine like this. Small production, real conviction, and a corner of the Mosel most people have never had a reason to learn.
