Year after year, this is the Kabinett we can't stop drinking from Stefan Muller. The fruit comes from old vines, some pushing fifty years, rooted in iron-rich red slate that gives the wine an almost sanguine, mineral depth you won't find in the lighter cuvees. Like a proper Kabinett should be, it's low in alcohol and gently fruity-sweet, but the Saar's razor acidity keeps everything humming and honest. This is a wine that rewards patience; it can cellar happily for two decades and beyond. Muller is the young grower who dragged the Saar's overlooked slate parcels back into the light.
