Stella di Campalto farms her vineyards just south of Montalcino with an almost spiritual level of care—certified biodynamic, zero chemicals, minimal intervention, and always guided by intuition and observation. Bacia is a single plot on a limestone-rich slope, vinified and bottled separately when it shows exceptional personality, which it clearly did in the poised, classically structured 2019 vintage.

This wine is Brunello as a whisper, not a roar: red cherry, rose petal, orange peel, and crushed herbs float from the glass, with earthy depth and mineral clarity just below the surface. The palate is sleek, silken, and long, with fine-grained tannins and a kind of glowing inner energy that makes it feel almost Burgundian in style.

Fermented with native yeasts and aged in large, old oak casks, Bacia is never rushed—it’s released only when Stella believes it’s ready. The 2019 offers stunning balance between delicacy and structure, and will reward careful cellaring over the next 10–20 years.

"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Bacia is deep and complex, mixing black cherries with cedar box, autumnal spice, mentholated herbs and a dusting of cocoa. This speaks in bass tones, with dark, saturating red fruit and minerals excited by a core of brisk acidity and a balsamic tinge that defines the close. It finishes with tremendous length, staining and intense, leaving a primary concentration of cranberry and blackberry to mingle with sweet tannins. The 2019 Bacia is a bombshell beauty.
