Nicolà Oberto's line is that the best wine on the table isn't the rarest or the most famous - it's the bottle that gets emptied first, and his Barbera is built to be exactly that. The fruit comes partly from the Roero and partly from the vineyards around the family's house at Torriglione in La Morra, where the soil is a compact blue marl running roughly 40 percent limestone. Everything happens in concrete: around twelve to fourteen days of fermentation, malolactic in concrete or steel, then a few months' rest before bottling in spring, with no oak anywhere in the process. That leaves Barbera to do what it does best - dark berry fruit, crunchy texture, and the mouthwatering acidity that has made it the everyday red on winemakers' own tables across Piedmont. The 2025 came in ripe, healthy and balanced, and the wine is bright and high-toned to match. Trediberri was founded only in 2007, by Nicolà, his father Federico - cellar master at Renato Ratti from the 1970s until 2005 - and family friend Vladimiro Rambaldi, and those classical Piedmontese instincts show up here just as clearly as they do in the Barolos.

Robert Parker

91 points

"The Trediberri 2025 Barbera d'Alba is a blend of fruit from different vineyard parcels and is fermented and aged exclusively in cement to preserve freshness and varietal character. Spicy notes of cinnamon reflect the influence of the clay-rich soils, while fruit from the Roero contributes a silky texture and impressive length. Bright acidity keeps the wine lively and food-friendly, making it an ideal match for cured meats and other simple antipasti." —Monica Larner

Kerin O'Keefe

"Aromas of wild herb mingle with dark-skinned berry, dog rose and ground clove on the fragrant Trediberri 2025 Barbera d'Alba. Showing finesse and energy, the full-bodied palate features succulent Marasca cherry, menthol, licorice and bitter orange alongside tangy acidity and polished tannins. Drink through 2030." —Kerin O'Keefe
