"The 2022 Riesling Vieilles Vignes contains some veins of unknown age, in the lieu-dit Vorderer Hageneau site, that old villagers called "petite Geisberg", plus almost 70-year-old vines from the Muehlforst site, with heavier soils. The first whiff is like tansy-scented lemon sorbet - combining ethereal notions with immense freshness. It's so aromatic, so lifted. The palate manages a delicious and arresting contradiction. It is as steely as it is tender. The limestone buffers everything, but the sheer concentrations hone this to the most gorgeous, scalpel-like precision and freshness. A beautiful lemon pith astringency adds structure that prepares this for decades. The linearity and depth are incredible, with trailing lemon, riper notions of Mirabelle, and that lovely scent of ethereal hayflowers." -Anne Krebiehl MW

"From 60+-year-old vines in the Hunawihr grand cru Rosacker, the Muehlforst and the "Petit Geisberg" (Vorderer Hagenau) in Ribeauvillé, the 2022 Riesling Vieilles Vignes offers a fine, intense and seriously intense nose of perfectly ripe fruits intertwined with saline and refreshing limestone and spicy phenolic notes. Rich but elegant and refined on the palate, this is a full-bodied, generous and quite powerful but also delicately lush and round, always refined, stimulating and saline Riesling with some Muscat-like flavors on the finish. This has 14% stated alcohol with nine grams per liter of residual sugar that don't show up as sweet but as fully ripe and seductive fruit. Natural cork." -Stephan Reinhardt
