Biodynamic Nero d'Avola from southeastern Sicily. Winery established 2002 as spin-off from organic produce company Natura Iblea (founded 1996). 29 hectares in Noto Valley, organic and biodynamic certified since 2008. Nero d'Avola from massal selection of the oldest vines in Pachino, trained in traditional alberello. Parrino vineyard: 4 hectares, north-facing (protects from hot Scirocco winds), uncultivated 20+ years before replanting. Note: the 2019 Rosso di Contrada is a field blend—Parrino comprises 18%. Steel fermentation 15 days, one year tank, one year bottle.

More about Marabino

Marabino farms 30 hectares in Noto, in Sicily's sunny southeast corner. The estate was founded in 2002 and is run by managing director Pierpaolo Messina with enologist Salvatore Marino. The vineyards have been farmed biodynamically since 2008, certified in 2012, and the cellar keeps things pure: spontaneous fermentations with the vineyard's own yeasts, no additives, and sulfur only when strictly needed. Look for Nero d'Avola, including the Eloro 'Archimede', and Moscato di Noto. Pure Sicilian sun in the bottle.
