Biodynamic Nero d'Avola from southeastern Sicily. Winery established 2002 as spin-off from organic produce company Natura Iblea (founded 1996). 29 hectares in Noto Valley, organic and biodynamic certified since 2008. Nero d'Avola from massal selection of the oldest vines in Pachino, trained in traditional alberello. Parrino vineyard: 4 hectares, north-facing (protects from hot Scirocco winds), uncultivated 20+ years before replanting. Note: the 2019 Rosso di Contrada is a field blend—Parrino comprises 18%. Steel fermentation 15 days, one year tank, one year bottle.

Marabino's biodynamic vineyard in Noto, Sicily, sits on some of Europe's sunnier soil. Founded in 2002 by Pierpaolo Messina, this winery makes Nero d'Avola and Moscato with no additives, hand-harvested fruit, and indigenous yeast fermentation. Pure Sicilian sun in the bottle.
