Elegant Wachau Riesling from one of Austria's most respected family estates. Leo Alzinger's philosophy prioritizes elegance and pristine fruit over opulence—and this Federspiel classification delivers exactly that: lighter alcohol with crystalline purity. Sourced from 50-year-old vines on the terraces of Loibenberg and Burgstall, grown on clay mixed with gneiss, mica schist, and loam. Fermented spontaneously in stainless steel to preserve every nuance of this exceptional terroir.

"The 2024 Riesling Dürnsteiner Federspiel comes from sites across Dürnstein, all along the foot of the mountains with many terraced sites. The nose is restrained, offering soothing, subtle tangerine and crushed citrus leaf that gain stature with air. Scented is the term that is most apt. The palate is beautifully citric, light, linear and again scented. This is a picture of elegance with subtle concentration and a mouthwatering finish." —Anne Krebiehl, MW

More about Alzinger

Leo Alzinger Sr. established this Wachau icon in 1983 and has since defined what great Austrian Riesling can be. With holdings in two of the Danube's greatest sites—Loibenberg and Steinertal—he and his son Leo Jr. craft wines of crystalline purity and restraint. Fermented at low temperature in acacia casks and aged on fine lees, their single-vineyard Grüner Veltliners and Rieslings are wildly delicious with serious structure. These are wines that prove minimalism in the cellar is actually maximalism on the palate.
