GC stands for Gary Charles—founder Gary Farr's personal commitment to his flagship expression and life's work in wine. The Côte vineyard, planted at high density on North-facing hillsides in the Moorabool Valley, yields grapes of extraordinary concentration despite challenging growing conditions. This 2023 vintage shows pale golden color with aromas of white peach, citrus blossom, and subtle struck-match complexity from careful winemaking. On the palate, the wine is fine yet firm—delicate in texture but demanding in structure and requiring contemplation. Fermentation in 30% new French oak with indigenous yeasts and complete malolactic conversion, followed by 11 months of lees aging with regular bâtonnage, creates creamy richness balanced by underlying minerality.
