From one of Barolo’s under-the-radar traditionalists, Serio e Batista Borgogno’s Albarella bottling comes from a small cru tucked within the Cannubi amphitheater. The 2020 vintage was cool and balanced, ideal for highlighting the site’s delicate profile and aromatic lift. This is Barolo that favors finesse over power, with all the hallmark traits of classic Nebbiolo.

Bright cherry, cranberry, and blood orange lead the way, laced with rose petal, tea leaf, and a dusting of spice. The tannins are firm but fine-grained, giving structure without bulk, and the finish is long, mineral, and quietly persistent. Decant for early drinking, or age it 8–12 years to watch the depth unfold. A beautifully pure, site-sensitive Barolo for those who love precision and grace over weight.
