Benoît Courault is one of the Loire's most respected natural winemakers, farming old vines in the Anjou region with strict organic practices. Les Guinechiens is his flagship Chenin Blanc, sourced from some of his oldest vines on schist soils. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and bottled with minimal sulfur, the result is pure, vibrant, and unmistakably alive—a benchmark for what natural Chenin Blanc can achieve. Expect orchard fruit, mineral depth, and the kind of tension that makes Loire whites so compelling.

More about Benoit Courault

Benoit Courault practiced biodynamics and horse-plowing before most people knew what those words meant. After three years at Domaine de L'Anglore in Tavel, he bought a 6-hectare estate in Faye d'Anjou with his wife and committed to biodynamic farming on schist soil. His La Grande Maille—old-vine Cabernet Franc—ferments naturally and ages in barrel without racking. It's Loire wildness, properly handled.

Loire Valley Wines

The Loire Valley is France’s greatest source of value for anyone looking for elegant, terroir-driven wines. Our collection celebrates the region’s great diversity, with the mineral-driven whites of Muscadet and Sancerre, the beautiful Chenin Blancs and Cabernet Francs from villages like Vouvray and Chinon, and natural wines from everywhere in the region. Sometimes wonderfully fresh and gulpable, sometimes serious and age-worthy, the prices are always very reasonable.
