Cumberland Reserve is the easiest way into the Bergström family's biodynamic estate Pinot Noir, and one of the best values in serious Oregon Pinot. Rather than bottling one site, it blends barrels from the family's own vineyards across three northern Willamette Valley AVAs: Dundee Hills, Ribbon Ridge and Chehalem Mountains. The cuvée draws on the Bergström, La Spirale, Silice and Le Pré du Col vineyards, so marine sedimentary sands and volcanic basalt clays both go into the bottle. John Bergström left Sweden as a young teenager and founded the winery with his son Josh in 1999. Today Josh and his wife Caroline run it, and they have farmed biodynamically for more than 25 years. Josh was named to the Académie Internationale du Vin in 2023, so this is a lot of experience to find in a weeknight bottle. And the name? It's the Portland road where the Bergström family grew up.

Tasting Profile
