Imported by famed wine merchant Kermit Lynch, Bèrto's aperitivo liqueur makes an excellent spritz. Like Aperol and other lighter style aperitifs, this is fragrant with fruit (bitter orange and rhubarb) and lightly bittered by an infusion of gentian root.

More about Berto

Bèrto makes old-school Piedmontese vermouth and aperitivo, the kind once sipped on a mid-shift break rather than at a black-tie bar. The vermouth recipe dates to the 1930s and was revived by chef Federico Ricatto; it's produced at Antica Distilleria Quaglia in Castelnuovo Don Bosco, a family house since 1906. Look for the red 'Ross da Travaj' vermouth and a gentian-bittered aperitivo with bitter orange and rhubarb that makes a superb spritz. Imported by Kermit Lynch.
