"From vines planted in 1902, Perrot-Minot's four barrels' worth of 2006 Nuits-St.-Georges La Richemone Vieilles Vignes Cuvée Ultra offers palate-staining intensity of "ultra-"ripe black fruits, smoked meats, and soy. Surprisingly, this is brighter and than the two bottlings from the Combe d'Orveaux, although like the "ultra" rendition of that site, it's almost inscrutably dense and emphasizes the bitter bite of its constituent berries. The finish here gives you a lot to chew on both tactilely and mentally, and I don't doubt that the wine will be worth following for more than a decade." -David Schildknecht
