Mathieu Vallée's Château Yvonne is one of the most exciting small estates in Saumur — biodynamic, working tuffeau limestone soils in Parnay, making wines that have a following well out of proportion to the domaine's size. Le Gory is the estate's top white Saumur — 100% Chenin Blanc from a parcel within La Côte, on red clay, sandstone, and limestone — and it shows why: this is a focused, mineral wine with real precision and presence. The 2021 vintage was a lean, classic year in the Loire that rewarded careful farming; Yvonne's biodynamic approach delivered. Chenin Blanc from tuffeau at this level belongs in the same conversation as wines that cost significantly more.
