Loire Sauvignon Blanc at this level of clarity is rare, and the price tag makes it almost suspicious. Domaine de la Potine is the project of Vincent Ricard, a serious Touraine grower farming a small parcel of sandy clay over limestone above the river Cher. The vines are tended organically, the 2024 was fermented cleanly in stainless steel, and the result is a Sauvignon that drinks like a much grander Loire white. Lemon zest, green apple, and gooseberry leap out of the glass, with whispers of white flower and wet stone behind them. The palate is racy and flint-edged, with a citrus snap that finishes mouthwatering and long. If you have been spending more than you would like on Sancerre or Pouilly-Fume, treat this as the welcome correction.
