A magnum of the flagship. Le Lucciole, the fireflies, is Chiara Condello's single-vineyard Riserva from a 0.8-hectare parcel in the heart of Predappio, the most respected sub-zone of Romagna. The vines, planted at 250 meters on spungone-rich clay-limestone soils, are farmed biodynamically. Fermentation is spontaneous, maceration lasts 45 days, and the wine ages two years in used Slavonian botti before a further year in bottle. In the larger 1.5L format, the wine evolves more slowly and gracefully, rewarding patient cellaring. This is the wine that has helped place Romagna Sangiovese in the same conversation as top Chianti Classico, now in a format built for celebrations and long horizons.

Chiara Condello is Predappio's rising star, farming seven hectares biodynamically in the Romagna Sangiovese zone and making wine the old way: native yeasts, open-top wooden vats, long skin maceration, whole-cluster ferments. Her two wines—the 'normale' and the single-vineyard Le Lucciole—prove that Romagna Sangiovese can be as sophisticated and age-worthy as its Tuscan cousins. She's 35 and rewriting the rulebook.

Perfect Pairings

A magnum calls for a feast: dry-aged ribeye, slow-braised wild boar, porcini risotto, or whole roasted lamb. Aged Parmigiano-Reggiano, tagliatelle al ragu, and rich mushroom dishes also draw out the wine's depth.

Tasting Profile

Black cherry, dried violet, tobacco leaf, leather, and balsamic over a deep, chalky core. Full-bodied yet poised, with fine, persistent tannins. The magnum format extends the drinking window meaningfully, with another decade or more of upside.
