What is this wine?
Cyril Fhal of Clos du Rouge Gorge is one of the most respected natural winemakers in Roussillon. Farming biodynamically on gneiss and schist soils near Latour-de-France, he produces soulful, terroir-driven wines in tiny quantities. La Femme Soleil is one of his rarest cuvées, made from Macabeu (a traditional Catalan white variety) grown on old vines, vinified with native yeasts and minimal intervention.
Why get this wine?
Fhal’s wines are cult bottlings—highly sought after by natural wine lovers and collectors alike. La Femme Soleil is both rare and profound, showing just how elegant and expressive southern French whites can be when grown on great terroir and handled with care. This is not just a natural wine, but one of the most coveted expressions of Roussillon.
What does this wine taste like?
Textural and mineral, with layers of citrus, quince, and white peach accented by wild herbs, floral notes, and a saline, stony edge. The palate is precise yet deep, with freshness balanced by complexity.
When should you drink this wine?
Best 2024–2030. Enjoy it alongside seafood, grilled vegetables, or soft cheeses—or simply as a contemplative glass on its own.
