What is this wine?
Cyril Fhal of Clos du Rouge Gorge is one of the most respected natural winemakers in Roussillon. Farming biodynamically on gneiss and schist soils near Latour-de-France, he produces soulful, terroir-driven wines in tiny quantities. La Femme Soleil is one of his rarest cuvées, made from Macabeu (a traditional Catalan white variety) grown on old vines, vinified with native yeasts and minimal intervention.

Cyril Fhal found old vines on steep, unreachable slopes near Latour-de-France in Roussillon and decided wine-making was worth the difficulty. Since 2002, he's been farming biodynamically with ultra-low yields, working gravity instead of pumps, using minimal sulfur. The wines are elegant, balanced, and unlike anything else from the south. Clos du Rouge Gorge is one of the finest natural wine operations in France. This is conviction, not trendy.
