A sweet red, and unapologetic about it. Jeunesse is the easy-drinking line from Baron Herzog, the Herzog family's California winery in Oxnard, and this Cabernet Sauvignon is finished semi-sweet rather than dry — the sweeter style familiar from kosher holiday tables, but built on California Cabernet fruit rather than Concord. Serve it well chilled, which keeps the sweetness in check and pushes the dark fruit forward. Kosher.

Jeunesse is the easygoing, semi-sweet side of Baron Herzog, the kosher label of the Herzog family, whose winemaking story starts in Vrbové, in today's Slovakia, back in 1840. Emperor Franz Joseph made Philip Herzog a baron, and after the war the family rebuilt in America, eventually opening its winery in Oxnard, California. Jeunesse, French for youth, is unapologetically sweet, made from California grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon. Chill it well and pour it at the holiday table.

Tasting Profile
