What is this wine?
Founded in 1928, Domaine Huet is the benchmark estate of Vouvray in the Loire Valley, and one of the most respected Chenin Blanc producers in the world. Farmed biodynamically since the 1980s, the domaine bottles wines from three distinct crus: Le Haut-Lieu, Clos du Bourg, and Le Mont. Le Mont is prized for its green-tinged, stony soils, which produce wines of remarkable precision and finesse. The Demi-Sec style offers gentle sweetness balanced by vivid acidity, a hallmark of Chenin Blanc.

Why get this wine?
Huet’s Le Mont Demi-Sec is one of the most celebrated expressions of Chenin Blanc, balancing richness and tension with age-worthy structure. The 2022 vintage was warm but balanced, yielding wines with generous fruit and crystalline acidity. If you want to experience the complexity that makes Vouvray a world-class white, this bottle is essential—and capable of aging gracefully for decades.

What does this wine taste like?
Expressive and layered, with ripe pear, quince, and stone fruit accented by honey, floral tones, and chalky minerality. Off-dry but taut, with acidity cutting through to a long, vibrant finish.

When should you drink this wine?
Beautiful now with spicy cuisine, richer seafood, or soft cheeses, but it will cellar effortlessly for 20+ years, developing nutty, honeyed, and truffle-like depth.

Wine Spectator

94 points

"This has the structure and bitter-edged minerality to carry its weight and ripeness, with beeswax and white tea notes that overlay crunchy orchard fruit and pink grapefruit with peppery spice notes woven in. A lot of savory detail and acidity makes this superbalanced and very food-friendly."

Flatiron's Take

From the Importer

What Polaner Selections has to say about this wine:

VINEYARDPurchased in 1957, Le Mont lies on the esteemed Premiere Côte. With less clay and more stone than Le Haut-Lieu, Le Mont yields young wines of intense minerality. The wines are the estate's most reticent, but develop the strongest perfume with age. Size: 8 hectaresSOILClay has a green tinge, and ample stone and silica present.VITICULTUREAll grapes harvest by hand, which enables picking by successive tries – each tri being a separate pass by the workers through the vineyard, ensuring only the best bunches of ripest (or even botrytised) grapes. There is no encouragement of the malolactic fermentation, thus many Huet wines remain rich in malic acid, a character that brings an age-worthiness to the wines. The concentration of residual sugar in demi-sec cuvées is traditionally around 10-20 g/lAGINGAged in large demi-muids
