"Land of Stones"—named for the rolled river pebbles that define this cuvée's terroir. Marcel Richaud assembles fruit from multiple Cairanne lieux-dits: Les Sablières (sandy), Le Cros du Romet (extremely rocky), and parcels climbing to 300m on ancient iron-rich marls. 50% Grenache, 25% Carignan, 15% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah. Organic since 2008, this is the galets-focused counterpart to his Tradition bottling—more Provençal aromatics, maquis and spice. Natural wine pioneer since 1974, now run by the next generation.

More about Domaine Richaud

Marcel Richaud is a founder of natural wine alongside Overnoy and Lapierre, pioneers of a movement most winemakers thought impossible. In Cairanne, he and his children Thomas and Claire farm 80 hectares between Cairanne and Rasteau with the kind of low-intervention philosophy that's now common but was revolutionary when they started. Grenache-based wines that taste like purity and garrigue wrapped together. A living legend.
