Feudo Montoni's vineyards sit so isolated in the high center of Sicily that phylloxera never reached them — meaning these old vines are own-rooted, ungrafted, and propagated only from the estate's own cuttings. For owner Fabio Sireci the formula is simple: ancient indigenous vines, farmed with deep respect for the land. The Catarratto del Masso comes from a single high-elevation plot of very old vines; 'Masso' refers to the rocky, iron-rich stones in the soil that give the wine its mineral backbone. Somehow these singular Sicilian gems remain criminally under-the-radar and affordable. A wine-geek treasure that overdelivers.

Feudo Montoni sits isolated on Sicily's high terrain, so isolated that phylloxera never arrived. The vines are own-rooted and some are hundreds of years old. Massal selection cuttings come only from their own vineyards. The terroir—high altitude, cold nights, sandy soils, ancient roots—gives their Nero d'Avola and whites real freshness, elegance, and minerality.
