Morey-Saint-Denis represents the perfect midpoint between Gevrey-Chambertin's firm power and Chambolle-Musigny's perfumed elegance—and Forey's expression captures this balance beautifully. Sourced from "Clos Solon" and "Les Crais" parcels, this village wine shows the structured, concentrated approach that distinguishes Régis Forey from lighter Burgundy interpretations. Traditional vinification: cold maceration, three-week cuvaison, 16-20 months in oak, bottled unfined and unfiltered. Black and red fruit, violet, truffle, and forest floor notes. The 2023 vintage is exceptional. Drink from 2025; ages beautifully for decades.

"Here there is that curious form of reduction the Burgundians call bourgeon de cassis (cassis blossom), which isn’t unpleasant so much as it’s atypical. Otherwise, there is both good verve and freshness to the supple lighter weight flavors that flirt with dilution on the bitter pit fruit-inflected finish. This is perfectly agreeable but the higher yields of the 2023 vintage are evident. To enjoy early on." —Allen Meadows

More about Forey Pere et Fils

Regis Forey makes a range of traditional, old school Pinot Noir in the heart of Vosne-Romanée. His domaine is a total of 10 hectares and includes holdings from Nuits-St-Georges to Morey-St-Denis, and include some top 1er crus in Vosne. But the wines (and Regis himself) are not flashy, and indeed they can take careful cellaring to unlock their full potential.

These are the very qualities that first drew famed importer Neal Rosenthal to the estate back in 1982. Indeed this was one of the first Burgundy producers in a portfolio that is now famous for a slew of top-notch domaines and classic wines. What drew Neal to this domaine are the same qualities that his entire portfolio exemplifies: pure, unadulterated expressions of terroir.

Flatiron's Take

From the Importer

The village offering from Morey-Saint-Denis is sourced from grapes in “Clos Solon” and and “Les Crais”. The vines were planted in 1966 and another section in 1986. Under most circumstances, Forey does not rack his wines during élevage, permitting the wines to rest on the fine lies until they are racked when ready for bottling.
