Mike Grgich made the 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay that beat Burgundy at the 1976 Judgment of Paris, then founded Grgich Hills in Rutherford in 1977. The estate has farmed organically since 2000, was certified in 2006, and in 2023 earned Regenerative Organic Certification, one of only a few wineries in the world to do so. Chardonnay is still the calling card. The legend delivers.
