Robert Parker

90 points

"A beauty, the dark ruby-colored, beefy 2005 Pinot Noir has notes of animal blood and roasted meats and shows good sweetness and tannin, medium to full body, and excellent acidity and length. This is a solidly built, borderline-rustic Pinot Noir with loads of character and depth. It should drink nicely for up to a decade." —Robert M. Parker, Jr.

More about Hirsch Vineyards

David Hirsch fell in love with Burgundy in the 1970s, then set out to translate that dream into Sonoma Coast terroir. Since 1980, he's planted a vineyard so fragmented (67 individual blocks) that it rivals Burgundy's own subdivision. All farmed biodynamically since 2011 with no machines, his Pinot Noir and Chardonnay capture the Sonoma Coast's bracing minerality and elegance—a love letter to place.
