Jean-Marc Roulot is famous for Meursault whites—legendary, impossible-to-find whites. Now the producer has made a red, and it feels like a secret shared. The Beaune Teurons (Premier Cru, one hectare, pure limestone, 2023 vintage) is one of only three new cuvées released by this storied house, and it tastes like Roulot applied everything learned from white wine to red: strawberry-field aromatics, gentle tannins, airy texture, salty finish. At 12.5% ABV, this is red wine as restraint and precision—a new side of a legendary name.

"The maiden 2023 Beaune Les Teurons 1er Cru comes from an acquisition of one hectare and is 100% whole bunch. It has a detailed and precise bouquet that opens wonderfully in the glass. For me, it's easily the best of Roulot's three reds. The palate is well balanced with fine tannins, lively with tension from the start and quite Volnay-like toward the finish.
