Pato means duck in Portuguese, which is how the Pato family's international label became "Duckman"—and this pink, fizzy party-starter is the most fun thing they make. It's a pet-nat: whole Baga berries co-fermented with Maria Gomes, finishing their fizz in the bottle the old ancestral way, with no sulfur added. Baga is Bairrada's fierce, tannic red grape, but here it turns bright and juicy, all wild strawberry and redcurrant snap. This is the Edicao Especial—a special-edition release of the same crushable rose, dressed up for the occasion. Chill it, pop it, pour it into whatever glass is nearest.

Maria Pato created the playful Duckman project (pato means duck in Portuguese) in Portugal's Bairrada region, inheriting her father Luis's legacy as a Baga advocate. She works two vineyards within twenty kilometers of the Atlantic coast, farming sustainably and making wines that feel rebellious and rooted in equal measure.
