Dominique Lafon, the Meursault master, saw the Maconnais' potential before the rest of Burgundy and founded Les Heritiers du Comte Lafon in 1999. The domaine farms biodynamically and turns out world-class Chardonnay at prices that still feel like a secret. Prisse sits at the southern end of the Maconnais, neighboring Saint-Veran country, and gives a Macon with more cut and mineral drive than the rounder northern villages. Lafon's signature freshness and precision come through clearly. Drink over the next several years.
