Dominique Lafon, the Meursault icon, founded Les Heritiers du Comte Lafon in 1999 to prove the Maconnais could make serious Chardonnay, farming biodynamically across the region. Vire-Clesse is its own appellation, known for fuller, riper, more textured whites off limestone slopes. Lafon's version balances that generosity with cut and minerality, so it drinks rich but never flabby. One of the most rewarding values in white Burgundy. Drink now or cellar a few years.
