Maison Foucher, based in Aligny-Cosne just northeast of Sancerre, sources Le Petit Mont from cool-climate clay-limestone plots on the doorstep of the Sancerre and Menetou-Salon zones, the same kind of soils that give those famous appellations their tension. It plays little sister to Foucher's Sancerre Le Mont, delivering much of the same citrus snap and chalky cut without the appellation markup. Fresh, expressive and reliably crisp, it is a smart house white for anyone who loves Sancerre but drinks a lot of it. Serve cold.
