Old-school Cornas from a beloved traditionalist working out of a cellar under his house in the village center. Marcel Juge makes tiny quantities of 100% Syrah from steep granite slopes, ferments whole-cluster under a submerged cap, ages in crusty old demi-muids and bottles unfiltered. The 2010 ranks among the Northern Rhone's great recent vintages, a powerful, structured year of pure fruit and serious depth. Expect a Cornas built to age, still tightly coiled and rewarding a decade or more in the cellar. Decant generously if you open one young.

More about Marcel Juge

Marcel Juge was a legend of the Northern Rhône, making rustic, earthy Cornas from his cellars beneath his Cornas house for decades. Whole-cluster fermentation, 18–24 months in old demi-muids, organic farming—wines with a gentleness that belies their depth. He retired in the late '90s, but his legacy and some vineyard land live on through his daughter Olga.
