Olek Bondonio’s wines have quietly become some of the most compelling in the Langhe, blending traditional winemaking with a deep sensitivity to site. His Barbaresco Roncagliette comes from one of the region’s most prized crus, a vineyard that also houses Gaja’s legendary Sori Tildin. The 2021 vintage, marked by purity and structure, highlights the finesse of this special site—producing a wine of lifted aromatics, precise tannins, and layered complexity.

Wild strawberry, red cherry, and dried rose petals lead, intertwined with hints of anise, crushed herbs, and iron-rich earth. The tannins are firm but finely woven, allowing the wine’s energy and elegance to shine through. While it’s already showing flashes of brilliance, patience will be rewarded—this is a Barbaresco that will only gain depth and nuance with time. Olek Bondonio used to be a professional snowboarder. Now he's one of the most sought-after names in Barbaresco, farming the 200-year-old family estate Cascina La Berchialla with nearly seven hectares across some of Piedmont's most esteemed sites. His great-great-grandfather helped found the Barbaresco Co-op. In the cellar, Olek practices natural fermentation in concrete vats, extended skin macerations, aging in Slavonian oak, minimal sulfur. He's honoring history while making uncompromising, alive wines.
