Nigl proves that great Gruner doesn't have to cost a fortune or carry a wallop of alcohol, and Freiheit is the bottle that makes the case. The name means freedom, a nod to some of the first privately owned vineyard land in the valley, and the wine is sourced from sites around Krems in Austria's Kremstal region. Loess soils and stainless-steel fermentation keep it pure and bright; it's even bottled at night to lock in freshness. This is everyday Gruner that still delivers the savory, peppery complexity the grape is famous for.

More about Nigl

Great Grüner Veltliner on the slopes of the Kremstal. Martin Nigl has farmed these terraces sustainably for decades—no herbicides, no sulfites except minimal amounts at bottling—letting the grapes and their stony-loess soils speak. His Freiheit and Gärtling bottlings show ripeness and energy without flashiness. A Nigl is a daily drinker that keeps rewarding you.
