Domaine Olga Raffault dates to the 1930s when Olga and her husband Pierre farmed parcels near Savigny-en-Veron in Chinon. After Pierre's death in 1947, Olga built the estate's reputation over decades, and today it spans 24 hectares under granddaughter Sylvie and her husband Eric de la Vigerie. La Fraich, first made in 2022, is their entry-level "vin de soif" from young vines in sandy, flat parcels near the Vienne River. Certified organic, hand-harvested, and fermented with native yeasts, the wine spends about six months in stainless steel. Pure Cabernet Franc with opulent aromatics, fresh fruit, and a playful character designed for immediate enjoyment. Perfect for charcuterie or light fare.

Olga Raffault never actually made wine—she was just the unforgettable owner for many years. Now her granddaughter Sylvie and Sylvie's husband Eric run the 24-hectare estate in the Véron, between the Loire and Vienne rivers, where five generations of Raffaults have worked. 23 hectares of Chinon from Cabernet Franc, just converted to organic, picked by hand, fermented native. The flagship Les Picasses from south-facing slopes speaks in a voice that's elegant and utterly Loire.

What Bowler Wine has to say about this wine:

100% Cabernet Franc. The fruit comes from very young vines in sandy, flat parcels near the winery not far from the the Vienne River. The farming is certified-organic and the harvest is manual. The berries are destemmed but not crushed and fermented with native yeasts in tank with a maceration of about 15 days. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks for about 6 months before bottling. This vin de soif has a pretty and playful label that complements its style perfectly.
