The 2017 négociant expansion introduces Pierre and Marianne to Burgundy's grand stage: Clos Vougeot, one of the most prestigious and largest Grand Crus, sourced from Marianne's family vineyard holdings. The 50-hectare vineyard, enclosed by 12th-century stone walls, represents the broadest expression of Burgundy terroir diversity—many producers claim their parcel as their life's work. Pierre and Marianne apply their signature delicate and detailed approach to this prestigious site, allowing the terroir's characteristics to emerge through minimal intervention. The 2023 Grand Cru expression reflects the refined winemaking that has made their domaine a rising star. This bottling represents a leap into one of Burgundy's most historically significant vineyard names.

More about Pierre & Marianne Duroche

This is the négociant side of Domaine Duroché: Pierre Duroché, one of Gevrey-Chambertin's most sought-after growers, working with his wife Marianne to make wines from beyond Gevrey, including Vosne-Romanée and Clos de Vougeot.

The Duroché family has been making wine in Gevrey for five generations and was bottling some of it under its own name long before that was the norm in Burgundy. Pierre and Marianne run the family's 8.5-hectare domaine, and with the 2017 vintage they started this small label. The fruit comes from vineyards owned by Marianne's parents and from a few growers who farm the way they do. The Vosne-Romanée, for example, comes from the Chaladins climat, between the village and Clos de Vougeot, on vines belonging to Marianne's family.

The approach matches the domaine's: no herbicides or pesticides, only copper and sulfur in the vineyard, open-vat fermentation with native yeasts and a gentle extraction, and at most 15% new oak. The wines are bottled without fining or filtration. Pierre is a serious rock climber (he competed for the French national team at World Cup events in the mid-2000s) and he brings the same precision to the cellar. Expect what we love in Duroché: subtle oak, red and blue fruit, real finesse and a clear sense of place. Quantities are tiny.
