Pierre Moncuit, Champagne Delos Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru [2021], NV

$59.99
Use code 10OFF to get 10% off 12+ bottles

Grand Cru Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, where the Moncuit family has grown grapes since the late 19th century. Pierre began bottling estate Champagne in the 1950s; today his daughter Nicole and son Yves continue. "Delos" honors the founder—100% Chardonnay from vines over 30 years old, with just 3g/L dosage at Extra Brut level. Full malolactic in stainless steel (no oak), 24-36 months on lees. Every bottle comes from a single vintage to capture that year's character. This is grower Champagne from one of the Côte des Blancs' most revered villages.

Antonio Galloni

"Pale gold. Complex, expansive bouquet evokes candied citrus fruits, pear nectar, beeswax and jasmine, with a bright mineral flourish adding vivacity. On the palate, vibrant orchard and citrus fruit flavors flesh out and deepen with air while maintaining vivacity. The floral quality repeats on the finish, which shows superb clarity and lift and lingering stoniness." —Josh Raynolds

More about Pierre Moncuit

Chalk, single vintage, precision. Pierre Moncuit makes Champagne the old-fashioned way: every wine (except one rosé) is a single vintage from a single site, designed to express chalk and terroir. Grapes climb the east-facing slope of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger; the wines taste of ripe quince, lemon peel, and chalk dust. They want you to taste the soil, the year, and the place.

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
